As an artist for Soul Flower, I create several new designs every season that get screenprinted on to garments, accessories, and other surfaces and sold to retail and wholesale customers. Working for the company for nearly 10 years, my style has heavily defined the Soul Flower brand.
To make my designs, I use a variety of physical drawing tools (pencil, pen, ink, marker) and digital tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, a scanner). Drawing designs by hand is my forte. My style is intricate, detailed, and always leans toward feminine. A lot of the designs I create for Soul Flower are inspired by mehndi, mandalas, yoga, patterns, and funkier times (1960s, 70s). I’ve also created designs using Mixed Media, where I create the art using handmade, real-world art supplies and non-digital media. I then scan everything in and finish it digitally. In the past I’ve used: woodblock prints, spray paint and stencils, watercolor paint, crayon, cut-out paper, and more.
