As an artist for Soul Flower, I create several new designs every season that get screenprinted on to garments and sold to retail and wholesale customers. My designs always fit within the Soul Flower brand, but I have my own style as well.
To make my designs, I use a variety of physical drawing tools (pencil, pen, ink, marker) and digital tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, a scanner). Drawing designs by hand is my forte. My style is intricate, detailed, and always leans toward feminine. A lot of the designs I create for Soul Flower are inspired by mehndi, mandalas, yoga, patterns, and funkier times (1960s, 70s). I’ve also created designs using Mixed Media, where I create the art using handmade, real-world art supplies and non-digital media. I then scan everything in and finish it digitally. In the past I’ve used: woodblock prints, spray paint and stencils, watercolor paint, crayon, cut-out paper, and more.
